ICT CS Eliud Owalo on Friday joined Team Europe - Kenya in the formal launch of the Digital Transformation Centre (DTC) on Friday, where he presided over the inauguration.

This collaboration between Kenya, the European Union, the Federal Republic of Germany, and Estonia marks a significant milestone in the pursuit of digital transformation in Kenya, with a focus on building a sustainable, all-inclusive human-centred digital economy.

"Our common agenda is digital transformation of Kenya, with focus on a sustainable all-inclusive human centred digital economy in Kenya. Trust, security and openness are critical elements, in this regard. They must be proactively pursued so that nobody is left behind," emphasized Owalo, highlighting the core principles driving the initiative.

Owalo noted that digital transformation plays a crucial role as a platform for nations seeking sustainable growth and global competitiveness in today's interconnected world

He expressed Kenya's enthusiasm to leverage the convergence of science, technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship to unlock unprecedented opportunities in economic development, job creation, and enhanced services for its people.

Notable figures including H.E. Ambassador Sebastian Groth of the Federal Republic of Germany, H.E. Henriette Geiger, EU Ambassador to Kenya, Kairi Saar-Isop, Director General, Department for Development Cooperation & Humanitarian Aid, MOFA, Estonia, Bodo Immink, Country Director, GIZ Kenya, PS-ICT, Senator Chesang Allan Kiprotich, Senate ICT Chair, Senators Ummi Mohammed and Irene Mayaka, Immaculate Kasait, Commissioner for Data Protection, and Ms. Salome Eggler, Head of DTC, GIZ, among others, attended the event.
