The Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury and Economic Planning, Prof. Njuguna Ndung'u, CBS, is set to deliver the Budget Statement for the FY 2023/24 to Parliament on June 8th, 2023.

This is according to a public notice issued by the National Treasury dated Tuesday, 16th May 2023.

"This is to notify the general public that the Budget Statement for the FY 2023/24 will be delivered by the Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury and Economic Planning on Thursday, 15th June, 2023 from 3:00 p.m. in Parliament," the notice read.

In preparation for this, the CS had previously invited suggestions and ideas from Kenyans on economic policy and tax measures to be considered for the upcoming budget.

The public's input was sought in several key areas, including accelerating economic recovery, reducing the cost of living, eradicating hunger, creating jobs, expanding the tax base, improving the foreign exchange balance, and fostering inclusive growth.

Additionally, suggestions were welcome on strengthening the implementation of government priority programs under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), boosting the private sector and MSMEs, creating a conducive business environment, integrating youth and women into sustainable economic recovery, enhancing revenue mobilization, and prudently managing public resources.

The Cabinet Secretary emphasized the importance of citizen participation in the budgeting process, recognizing that the ideas and suggestions received will help shape the budget and address the needs of the people.

The Treasury Ministry encouraged Kenyans to actively contribute their insights by submitting proposals through the official channels of the National Treasury or participating in public forums organized for this purpose.
