In a significant breakthrough, law enforcement authorities have apprehended three suspects believed to be connected to the disappearance and assault of a 14-year-old girl at the Nairobi railways terminus.
The distressing incident unfolded on May 9, 2023, leaving the victim's family in anguish and the community deeply disturbed.
The investigation took a crucial turn when the authorities successfully arrested the three individuals in relation to the distressing case.
Among the suspects in custody are two men and a woman, whose alleged roles in the incident are currently under scrutiny.
According to the girl's father, his daughter embarked on a journey from Mombasa to Nairobi aboard the 3 pm train.
However, upon her arrival in Nairobi later that night, she inexplicably vanished, intensifying the concerns of her worried family.
Unbeknownst to the distraught father at the time, it has come to light that the adolescent girl arrived at the Nairobi town terminus around 9:30pm and surreptitiously slipped away from the station in the company of a man now identified as Parkins Odero.
Frantic attempts to reach his daughter proved futile as she disappeared alongside Odero, ultimately leading them to Riruta Satellite in Dagoretti, where she was subjected to a harrowing ordeal of sexual assault.
The disturbing turn of events continued as the following day unfolded.
The minor was transferred into the custody of the second suspect, Alfred Matumona, who is also alleged to have committed the heinous act against her.
The arrest of the three suspects represents a significant step towards unravelling the truth surrounding this appalling incident.
Among the apprehended suspects is a woman named Jackline Mangea, believed to have played a role in harbouring the minor during her ordeal.
