President William Ruto on Friday evening departed the country for a trip to the United Kingdom (UK), where he is set to attend the much-anticipated coronation of King Charles III.

According to a statement by State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed, President Ruto is set to join other world leaders for the coronation the new king scheduled for Saturday.

“At the invitation of the King, President Ruto will attend the historic event to be held at Westminster Abbey and presided over by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby,” said Mohamed.

After London, Ruto will on Sunday proceed to the Netherlands for an official visit that will see him hold a number of bilateral meetings, including one with King Willem-Alexander.

“During the visit, Kenya and the Netherlands will explore new areas of cooperation and strengthen existing partnerships between the two countries in critical areas such as trade and investment, development cooperation and multilateral fora,” continued the statement.

Thereafter, the Kenyan Head of State will travel onwards to Israel for a two-day State visit in response to an invite by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

“During the visit, the two leaders will hold high level bilateral meetings and discuss areas of mutual interest, including technology and innovation, manufacturing, agriculture and defence cooperation,” added the statement.

While in Israel, Ruto is slated to visit a number of agricultural projects then conclude the trip with a meeting with the Israeli business community to convince them investment in Kenya.
