The Kenya Power Board of Directors has announced the appointment of Dr Eng Joseph Siror as the new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the electricity distribution company.

Siror will be taking over from Eng. Geoffrey Muli, who has been in the position since May 2022.

KPLC Joy Brenda Masinde announced SIror's appointment via a statement issued on Tuesday.

Prior to his appointment as the Managing Director & CEO of Kenya Power, Siror served as the General Manager in charge of Technical Services (System Operations and Power Management) at the Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (KETRACO).

With over 30 years of experience in diverse business portfolios, Siror has worked in telecommunications, income tax and customs, manufacturing, information communication, technology and energy transmission.

Siror has a wide range of educational qualifications, including a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Engineering from Shanghai Jiaotong University, a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree, a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Nairobi, a bachelor's degree in law from the University of London, a pre-Kenya School of Law certificate from Riara University, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Applied Radiation Protection from the University of Nairobi.

Furthermore, Siror is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and a licensed Professional Electrical Engineer with the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK).

He is also a Corporate Member of the Institute of Engineers in Kenya (IEK).

The Kenya Power Board of Directors has expressed its delight in Siror's appointment, citing his wealth of experience, expertise, integrity, and energy.

"The Board takes this opportunity to congratulate him on his appointment," the board said.

The Board of Directors also extended its gratitude to Eng. Muli and Eng. Rosemary Oduor, who served in an acting capacity from April 2021 to May 2022 and remains integral to the company's transition strategy.

"The Board also wishes to recognize and appreciate the services of both Eng. Muli and Eng. Rosemary Oduor, who served in an acting capacity from April 2021 to May 2022 and remain key to the company's transition strategy," the board said.

Siror's appointment is expected to take effect immediately, and the Board of Directors looks forward to working with him to achieve the company's corporate goals.
