A teacher at Sacred Heart Mukumu Girls in Kakamega County has passed away due to what has been reported as multiple organ failure while admitted as a hospital in Eldoret town.

Juliana Mujema, who was the boarding mistress at the school, died in the Intensive Case Unit (ICU) at Lifecare Speciality Hospital, where she had been admitted.

Mujema had been transferred from Oasis Hospital in Kakamega after her medical condition got worse after she partook of contaminated school food, that has left three students dead.

The teacher has left behind a husband and two children.

Her family has revealed that the teacher had symptoms similar to those that had been exhibited by the three Mukumu Girls students who succumbed this week and last week.

Mukumu Girls was forced to close early last week and all students sent home to allow for the authorities to get to the bottom of the deadly disease outbreak at the school.

An initial probe linked to the disease outbreak at the famous Western Kenyan school to contaminated water and food which resulted in the typhoid fever and amoeba.
