Commendable performance by civil servants should be encouraged and rewarded, according to President William Ruto.
Ruto made those remarks on Tuesday , during the unveiling of the Evaluation of the Performance of Ministries, State Corporations, and Tertiary Institutions Report for 2021/2022
He believes that suppressing high performance is a primitive practice that has no place in any democracy.
The president acknowledged that a commitment to go the extra mile would ensure effective delivery of services to Kenyans.

"We must motivate, reinforce, and support high performance," Ruto stated.
Ruto also noted that the government was committed to institutionalising performance management, resulting in a significant improvement in public service delivery.
Moreover, he said that institutionalising performance management in the government would be further anchored in a policy framework.
To promote efficiency, promptness, and transparency, he added that progress was being made in developing the government's online performance contracting information system.
He said that the government would ensure the completion of viable, budgeted, and ongoing projects before embarking on new ones.
Public servants, including Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, Cabinet and Principal Secretaries, also attended the ceremony.
Gachagua said that a vibrant and motivated public service was crucial to the delivery of services.
"A vibrant and motivated public service is good for the prosperity of the country," Gachagua said.
Mudavadi stated that strengthening devolution was part of the effort to ensure efficient service delivery.
He also noted that it was the responsibility of public servants to facilitate the implementation of government programmes.
