Property owners within Nairobi City County are all smiles after Governor Johnson Sakaja granted an extension of the 2023 land rates payment period without penalties.
Sakaja's office announced the extension via a public notice he shared on his social media accounts.
According to the notice, an appeal from the property owners informed the move.
"Pursuant to Nairobi City County Tax Waivers Administration Act, 2013, and following an appeal from property owners, the County Executive Member for Finance, with the concurrence of H.E. the Governor, hereby grants an extension of 2023 land rates," the notice read in part.
The notice also informed the property owners that they had until mid-April to pay their land rates within which period they would not incur penalties.

Nairobi County encouraged all property owners to take advantage of the extension and clear their outstanding arrears.
"Property owners have up to 15th April 2023 to pay their land rates. During the period of extension, no penalties shall be levied on the current year land rates," the notice further read.
"All property owners in Nairobi are encouraged to take advantage of this extension and clear their Land Rates for the year 2023 and any arrears thereof before 15th April, 2023."
