The Nairobi City County has begun renovating the City Mortuary and has also set in motion the renovation of cemeteries within the county.

Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja announced the development via his social media accounts.

“Restoring dignity to our dearly departed and their families by improving the City Mortuary as well as our cemeteries,” Sakaja said.

He confirmed that the contractor was on site installing fresh cooling units, doors and a complete drainage system.

“Installation of new cooling units, cold room doors and drainage works (complete). Contractor on site,” the governor said.

“Step by step. Everything has to work.”

The renovation is expected to lift the face of the mortuary facility that serves a large number of Kenyans, especially from Nairobi County.

It is also expected to enhance the services the facility offers.
