Former Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala has been appointed as the new Secretary-General of the ruling party UDA replacing Veronica Maina, who is now a nominated Senator.

Malala, who was recently shortlisted for the position of Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) was scheduled to appear before the Public Service Commission (PSC) to be interviewed.

“Secretary General Cleophas Malala pledges to spearhead the implementation of the party's bottom-up economic transformation agenda. He said he will ensure UDA is an all-inclusive party that accommodates all Kenyans,” said UDA on the appointment on Monday.

Similarly, the party led by President William Ruto has picked Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire as its Chairperson replacing former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama, who was recently appointed a member of the Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC).


EALA MP Hassan Omar has replaced Kipruto arap Kirwa as UDA Vice Chairperson, Kitutu Chache North MP Japheth Nyakundi takes over the treasurer job from Omingo Magara, who ditched the party in the run up to the August 9, 2022 poll.

Mwala MP Vincent Musyoka replaces Karisa Nzai as party Organising Secretary, with the new officials holding their posts on an interim basis until UDA holds its polls later this year.


UDA has announced that it will commence a month-long countrywide membership drive from March 1, 2023 to April 30, 2023 ahead of its grassroots and party leadership elections.
