The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has summoned city lawyer Danstan Omari to its headquarters along Kiambu Road.
DCI detective identified as Michael Sang who is investigating the alleged raid on former Interior CS Fred Matiang’i’s Karen home early this month issued a notice on Tuesday compelling Omari to present himself at the DCI headquarters on Wednesday.
According to the notice, the detective has reasons to believe Omari is connected to the offence or is sitting on information that is important to his investigations.
“I Detective Micheal K. Sang, CFE, a Senior Superintendent of police attached to Directorate of Criminal Investigations Headquarters, Serious Crime Unit, is investigating allegations of Publication of False Information contrary to section 23 of the computer Misuse and Cyber Crimes Act 2018 amongst other offences in regard to alleged invasion and raid of the residence of the former Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Interior and National Co-ordination, Dr. Fred Matiangi on the 8th-9th day of February, 2023 allegedly by a “battalion” and/or “garrison” of police officers,” the notice read in part.
“I have reasons to believe that you, Danstan Omari, an Advocate of the High court of Kenya, is connected to the offence or has information which can assist me in my investigations.”

Sang invoked section 52 (1) of the National Police Service Act No 11A of 2011 to compel Omari to present himself at the DCI headquarters failure to which Omari would be liable to prosecution
“With the powers conferred upon me under section 52 (1) of the National Police Service Act No 11A of 2011, I hereby compel you; 1. Danstan Omari, an Advocate of the High court of Kenya To appear before me at the Directorate of Criminal Investigation situated along Kiambu Road At Mazingira House on the 22nd day of February, 2023 at 09.30 AM without fail,” the notice read.
“NB: Failure to comply with the requisition constitutes an offence liable to prosecution.”
Omari happens to be Matiang’i’s lawyer.
