Drama is unfolding in former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee Party after Chairman Nelson Dzuya announced the dismissal of Jeremiah Kioni as Secretary General and David Murathe as Vice Chairman.

Dzuya announced that the party had suspended the former Ndaragwa MP, Murathe and National treasurer Kagwe Gichohi due to "laxity and misconduct" following a Jubilee Party Parliamentary Group meeting held in Nakuru on Friday.

Kioni was replaced as SG by new East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) MP Kanini Kega, according to the resolutions made by the Jubilee Party PG by the 30 rebelling lawmakers.

Dzuya said the Jubilee National Executive Council (NEC) had initiated a process to remove Uhuru’s party from Raila Odinga’s Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition party.

However, Kioni has fought back his ouster by announcing the party had initiated disciplinary action against Kega, Nominated MP Sabina Chege, Isiolo Senator Fatuma Dullo and Eldas MP Adan Keynan.

The former MP, who insists he is still in office, says he has forwarded the names of the new Ruto allies in the former party to the Disciplinary Committee of the party for action.

“SG Hon. Jeremiah Kioni has received petitions to commence disciplinary action against Hon. Kanini Kega, Hon. Sabina Chege, Hon. Fatuma Dullo and Hon. Adan Keynan. The same have been forwarded to the JP Disciplinary Committee for action,” Jubilee Party tweeted on Friday.

The MPs largely from Mt Kenya, who recently met President William Ruto at State House Nairobi and pledged their allegiance, have denounced the Azimio's anti-government rallies.

At the meeting, President Ruto had announced that the 30 Jubilee MPs had joined the ruling Kenya Kwanza alliance and did not want anything to do with their 2022 poll vehicle Azimio.

During an Azimio leaders retreat at Maanzoni in Machakos County spearheaded by Raila and Kalonzo Musyoka, had insisted that Jubilee was firmly in Azimio and backing its agenda.
