Kisumu County police arrested two thugs suspected of being involved in the recent spate of robberies in the county and its environs.

Detectives smoked out the two suspects, namely Moses Adhiambo alias Olaa and Calvin Ochieng, from their hideout in Kaminyoro village.

Their arrest comes as police intensified their operations in the area following a recent robbery incident in which four thugs invaded someone’s house, beat up the occupants, then ransacked the house and stole household items such as TV sets, music systems, mobile phones and other electronic gadgets.

The incident prompted the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) based in Nyakach to launch an immediate probe, which led to the arrest of the two.

Two of their accomplices were lucky enough to escape the dragnet after fleeing from the scene, but the police have said their escape was short-lived.

During their arrest, police also recovered 16 litres of a local illicit brew known as chang’aa and a stone of bhang.

The police are still in pursuit of the two other suspects who escaped, while Adhiambo and Ochieng are in custody, helping the police with their investigations.
