To complement its agenda to radically transform business through technology, the government has announced its eager strategy to establish a digital hub in each of the country's 1,450 wards.
This was said by the ICT CS Eliud Owalo on Friday during the official launch of the country’s Data Protection Registration System
“As part of the ongoing conversation to digitise all government records and services and live up to our campaign pledge of rolling out a digital superhighway, we will be moving to establish at least one digital hub in each of the 1,450 wards across the country,” Owalo said.
This is a step closer to President William Ruto’s earlier pledge to have at least 100,000 km of fibre optic cable before his tenure elapses.
The move will also augment the government’s program to set up 25,000 free Wi-Fi hotspots in major trading centres and markets across the country to enhance e-commerce.
