Police in Turbo, Uasin Gishu County have launched a serious manhunt for a suspect who is believed to have murdered his week-old stepson.

The bizarre incident happened at Tarus Village in Tapsagoi location where residents are still in shock.

The suspect identified as Daniel Kipchumba is said to have committed the heinous crime on Wednesday morning at around 4 before fleeing the scene.

Kipchumba is suspected to have killed the little angel after feigning serious sickness and asking his wife to rush and seek help from his mother and second wife.

According to sources, Kipchumba recently reunited with his wife of 12 years identified as Grace Atwoli, with whom they parted ways in 2019.

Apparently, Grace went back to Kipchumba when she was heavily pregnant with another man and that did not augur well with Kipchumba who had also moved on and married another wife.

Little did Grace know Kipchumba had devised a plan to kill her baby and when she came back with Kipchumba’s mother and her co-wife, Kipchumba was nowhere to be found.

What met the trio was the ghastly sight of the lifeless body of the baby lying on the mattress with blood oozing out of the mouth and nose.

The baby’s neck also had visible marks consistent with strangulation, and the head also appeared to have been bludgeoned.

Detectives visited the homestead, processed and document the scene of the crime before the infant's body was moved to Kimbilio Nursing Home Hospital Mortuary where an autopsy was to be conducted to establish the exact cause of the death.

Detectives appealed to the public to volunteer any information that may lead to the arrest of Kipchumba so that he can face the law.
