Police in Nakuru are investigating the circumstances under which a man whose body was found in the Menengai Crater died.
According to the police report, herders who were grazing in the area on Thursday discovered the body in a thicket and alerted the authorities.
Nakuru North sub-county Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) officer Wesley Langat said after the herders alerted the area chief, he relayed the information that the body of a male of unknown identity was discovered.
The detectives visited the scene and worked in collaboration with members of the public who had gathered to witness the bizarre incident to retrieve the body which had fallen down the cliff.
Langat disclosed the body of the deceased had head injuries and fractured limbs and said investigations into the death had been launched to establish the exact cause of death and his identity.

“The body had injuries, we are yet to establish if he died by suicide or accident. At the moment, we are treating it as sudden death but we have launched investigations to establish what happened. We are also yet to establish his identity since we did not find any documents on him," Langat said.
Langat also said the police are yet to receive any reports of missing persons within Nakuru North.
The body of the deceased was moved to Nakuru City Mortuary where an autopsy will be conducted.
Residents of the village have expressed their concerns about the growing number of people who have lost their lives in the crater and appealed to the government to fence the place as a safety measure and avert any more deaths.
