Parents of students in government secondary schools students in Mandera County have all the reasons to be happy.
This comes after Mandera Governor Mohamed Adan Khalif announced the county's Sh350 million bursary fund will cover secondary school fees for all students in the 59 government secondary schools in Mandera County.
Khalif announced on Monday the move was part of his key campaign pledges during the past election.
“Investment in the education sector and the devolution of services to the lowest levels are among my key campaign pledges during the past election,” Khalif said.

“The bursary fund will primarily cover secondary school fees for all students in the 59 government secondary schools in Mandera County.”
According to Khalif, over 22,000 students in Mandera County will benefit by the program, which will provide relief to families struggling because of poverty and drought.
“This initiative will benefit over 22,000 students in our county and provide relief for thousands of families struggling due to poverty & drought,” Khalif said.

Khalif has gone into the history books as the first governor to make all public secondary schools in Mandera completely free.
His program will ensure many students from low-income families will have a shot at life because they will complete secondary school education.
