Safaricom’s M-PESA will officially be available as a payment option for motorists using intending to use the Nairobi Expressway.

He said the number of daily use of the expressway is expected to swell to about 70,000 vehicles by mid-January 2023.

"With the increment in the number of vehicles in the city, we expect daily usage to reach 70,000 by mid-January 2023," Zhao said

The announcement has come as an immense relief for motorists using the expressway because at the moment payment is only by cash for one-time users or through designated banks for motorists who have their vehicles installed with the ETC or MTC on board units.

Currently, available ETC or MTC top-up methods include the Moja Expressway website, USSD code, Stanbic mobile app, Standard-Chartered app and Loop Go app.
