Man commits suicide by slitting his throat after stabbing girlfriend to death

Police in Kiambu are investigating a case in which a 39-year-old man murdered his girlfriend before in cold blood before committing suicide.

Juja Sub-county police commander Phyllis Muthoni confirmed the incident and said the man identified as Daniel Mwangi stabbed his girlfriend in the stomach and in the back before turning the knife on himself.

Mwangi slit his throat with the same kitchen knife he used to kill his girlfriend before police officers from Juja Police Station stepped in and tried to rescue him before rushing him to Thika Level 5 Hospital where he, unfortunately, died while receiving treatment.

The police found the lifeless body of Mwangi’s girlfriend, which had four stab wounds lying in a pool of her own blood.

It is believed the two had an altercation over alleged infidelity before matters escalated.

However, the police are probing the case to establish exactly what led to the heinous murder of the 30-year-old MPESA shop attendant.

Her body was moved to General Kago Funeral Home in Thika.
