This information came two days after the journalist was killed in Kajiado County.

Four General Service Unit (GSU) officers and a police officer who were involved were probed over the Sunday incident.

Investigations have since established the vehicle that was reported stolen was a Mercedes Benz Sprinter (a van) whose registration number is KDJ 700F which is a far cry from the vehicle Arshad and his brother Khurram Ahmed were driving in during the incident which was a Toyota Land Cruiser V8 whose registration is KDG 200M.

A man identified as Douglas Wainaina reported the vehicle missing at Pangani Police Station after leaving the vehicle parked in the Ngara area only to return and find it missing, with his son inside.

Police allegedly tracked the vehicle to Kiserian in Kajiado County before alerting their counterparts.

It later turned out that Wainaina’s 26-year-old son had taken his father’s car as he was found behind its steering wheel at a filling station in Kiserian.

He was arraigned in court on Tuesday for driving the vehicle without a driving licence.

However, his father through his lawyer withdrew the case.

The million-dollar question everyone is asking now is how the police officers confused the van with the Land Cruiser, albeit they are as different as chalk and cheese.
