US has warned Kenyans against fraudsters asking them for cash to supposedly assist them to acquire the US Diversity Visa Program, popularly known as the Green Card lottery.
In a post on Wednesday, the US Embassy in Nairobi told Kenyans not to cough any money to be entered into the ongoing applications for the 2024 Green Card Lottery program.
“Registration for 2024 Diversity Visa Program is now open. Beware of fraudsters - there is NO fee to enter,” said the US Embassy in Nairobi in a post on Twitter.
According to the post from the embassy under US Ambassador to Kenya, Meg Whitman, the entry submission for the Diversity Visa Program will run from October 5 to November 8.

The US Department of State, which is tasked with administering the diversity program, only online applications will be accepted from those seeking a chance to live and work in the US.
“The entry form will only be available for submission during this period and this period only. Entries will NOT be accepted through the U.S. Postal Service,” said the department on its website.
Many citizens of third world and middle-income countries seek the elusive immigrant visa in a bid to relocate to USA in search of greener pastures but acquiring one is not an easy task.
The US government issues more than a million Green Cards, with most given to family members of US citizens and current green card holders, followed by workers from other nations seeking to be employed in America as the next biggest group of recipients.
