Egerton University has addressed a notice circulating on social media alleging the suspension of learning and examination at the institution.

The university through its Twitter account and dismissed the notice as fake.

In the fake statement whose source remains unknown, the institution allegedly sent the striking students packing because of failed discussions with Universities Academic Staff Union (UASU).

“Due to failed discussions with UASU, Egerton university suspends learning and examination till further notice,” the fake statement read

“With the ongoing strike, students are required to vacate the school premises by Friday 21st Oct. Resumption dates shall be communicated later on.”

This comes against the backdrop of a lecturer's strike over a 2-year salary cut.

The dons who are currently receiving 57 per cent of their salaries are demanding the institution's management pay them their full salaries.

UASU members also joined their lecturers in the protest that has paralysed the operations of the learning institution.
