President William Ruto has appointed former Standard Group Editor, Emmanuel Talam, as the Press Secretary to the Presidential Communication Service (PCS).

The Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service Felix Koskei announced Talam’s appointment Monday together with other appointments in the Executive Office of the President.

"In that regard, it is hereby notified that PRESIDENT WILLIAM SAMOEI RUTO, PhD., CGH., has today caused additional appointments within the ranks of the Executive Office of the President," the notification read.

Talam served as the Director of Communication in the Deputy President’s Office.

He was among the frontline runners in the race for the State House Spokesperson’s position, which went to former Citizen TV news anchor and renowned journalist Hussein Mohamed.

The president also appointed Reuben Maiyo as his Private Secretary who has maintained that position since serving under former President Uhuru Kenyatta in the same capacity.

George Ng'ong'a Macgoye was also appointed as the Chief Staff to Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua while Paul Muraya Mwangi was appointed the Private Secretary to the Deputy President.

Also appointed was Njeri Rugane to the Head of Communication Services in the office of the Deputy President’s position.

The Monday appointments follow another batch of appointments that the president made on Friday to the Executive Office of the President.
