The Nairobi City County Government invited all interested stakeholders for public participation and consultation on informal trading within the Nairobi Central Business District.

The county issued a notice on Friday in respect of Article 10 of the Constitution of Kenya and The Nairobi City County Public Participation Act of 2016.

“Article 10 of the Constitution of Kenya and The Nairobi City County Public Participation Act of 2016, provides for public participation in making decisions affecting the public,” the notice read.

“In this respect, The Nairobi City County Government invites interested stakeholders for public participation and consultation on informal trading within Nairobi CBD.”

The stakeholders mentioned in the notice include hawkers, members of the public, consumer associations, civil society networks, special interest groups, community-based organisations, business owners within the CBD, private and public sector representatives.

According to the notice, the consultations will be held on November 3, 2022, with CBOs, special interest groups, civil society networks and all other special interest groups at Charter Hall from 10 am while KNCCI, KEPSA and other business and trade associations will have theirs in the afternoon session from 2 pm.

Informal traders' associations and members will hold their consultative meeting on November 4, 2022, at the same venue at 10 am

Nairobi County Government directed that any written memoranda should be forwarded before November 4, 2022, by close of business.

“Any written memoranda can be forwarded to the Office of the County secretary, Nairobi City County Government P.O. BOX 30075-00100 NAIROBI or Email: commercesector@ nairobi.go.ke before 4th November 2022 at 5.00pm,” the notice read.
