A visiting Member of Parliament from Uganda, who had been reported to be missing after hailing a taxi in Hurlingham area of Nairobi County has resurfaced in Kampala Uganda.
Uganda’s Daily Monitor says it had spoken with Bukigai County MP David Wakikona on Tuesday afternoon and he had confirmed that he had traveled to Kampala.
Wakikona had been widely reported in Kenya media to have gone missing after reportedly boarding a taxi from Hurlingham’s Samura Court on Monday.
According to the Ugandan publication, the lawmaker could not explain why his counterparts from the Uganda National Assembly reported him missing at the Kilimani Police Station.
“I am here (in Kampala), you come to Parliament you will see me,” Wakikona told The Monitor on phone.
Wakikona, who once served as State Minister of Trade and Antiquities, indicated he was in Uganda even as the Directorate of Criminal Investigations was probing his disappearance.
Andrew Muturi, the Kilimani OCPD, on Tuesday afternoon confirmed to the media indeed the Ugandan MP had already traveled back home to the Ugandan capital.
The Clerk of the Ugandan National Assembly, Emmanuel Opio and Talibet Kibet are said to be the officials who reported the Ugandan lawmaker’s alleged disappearance to the police.
