Exiled lawyer and politician Miguna Miguna on Friday announced a fresh date for his much-anticipated return to Nairobi, Kenya after spending five years away in Toronto, Canada.

Sharing on his twitter page that has a following of 2.3 million people, Miguna said he will travel to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on October 20 bringing it forward by four days.

“ARRIVAL DATE & TIME HAVE BEEN CHANGED BY POPULAR DEMAND. Arrival: October 20, 2022 at 6.00 AM. See you at the JKIA, Patriots,” posted Miguna early Friday morning.

The former close ally of ODM party leader Raila Odinga had only hours earlier indicated he would make his trip from Toronto on October 24 and land at JKIA the next day at 8:20pm.

“HOMECOMING ITINERARY After nearly 5 years of forced BARBARIC EXILE, I'm returning home. Departing from Toronto: October 24, 2022. Arrival at JKIA, Nairobi: October 25, 2022 at 8:20 PM. See you, everyone,” he had posted earlier on Thursday.

He had recently revealed that Dr Ruto had guaranteed him he would assist him to regain his travel documentation to allow his safe return to Kenya from his Toronto, Canada abode.

While barring his return, the previous administration had faulted Miguna for refusing to fill a citizenship re-registration document that would help facilitate his travel back to Kenya.

Interior CS Fred Matiang'i said he lost his citizenship while in exile in Canada following the promulgation of a new constitution in 2010 as the old order didn’t permit dual nationality.
