The US House of Representatives voted in a bipartisan manner on Wednesday to impeach President Donald Trump for a second time for inciting invasion of Capitol building last week.
The House voted 232 to 197 to oust Trump a week after protesters forced legislators to flee from the Chambers making him the first US President to be impeached twice.
He is, however, the fourth president to be impeached in US history, with 10 Republicans joining their Democratic colleagues to impeach Trump for "incitement of insurrection."
The vote will, however, not force Trump out of office given the Senate trial is not scheduled to commence until after President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration on January 20.
It is a strong statement by the lawmakers to express fury at Trump he incited his supporters to raid US Capitol putting the lives of Vice President Mike Pence and lawmakers in danger.
