A man is reported to have set himself ablaze following a misunderstanding with his former wife at Nasra Estate in Njiru area of Nairobi County on Sunday.

According to a report filed by police from Soweto Police Station, the man identified as Dennis Musyoka, 34, set himself on fire inside his vehicle after stabbing Elizabeth four times.

Police say Musyoka had requested that his ex-wife brings their two-and-a-half-year-old daughter for the rendezvous at Nasra Estate for him to get a chance to bond with her.

He then entered her car, removed a knife from is bag and stabbed Elizabeth on the left side of her neck four times but luckily, she managed to jump out and was aided by well-wishers.

Musyoka then set himself on fire inside his ex-wife’s black Honda Vezel while in the company of his daughter leaving residents of Nasra Estate in a state of consternation.

Officers from Soweto Police Station who arrived at the scene moments later found Musyoka’s body in the partly burnt vehicle together with a knife and a partly burnt jerry can.

Police say reports indicate that the couple had recently parted ways following domestic differences which remained unclear and had been co-parenting before the tragic event.

The woman was stabilized at Mama Lucy Hospital while her daughter, who is in critical condition, was referred to Kenyatta National Hospital where she is receiving specialized care.

The body of the deceased was moved to Mama Lucy Hospital mortuary awaiting a postmortem as detectives from Kayole continue with their investigation into the incident.
