A fire broke out at Kisumu Boys High School on Saturday morning at around 9 am.

The fire razed down at least five buildings, including classrooms and dormitories.

Kisumu County Police and fire brigade rushed to the scene and battled the fire that started in one dormitory and spread to the other buildings.

Witnessed confirmed three dormitories and seven classrooms were affected by the fire.

However, the school principal Duncan Owire said the cause of the morning inferno is yet to be established.

Some students salvaged their belongings from the fire while others were not so lucky as property of unknown worth was destroyed by the fire.

The Kisumu Central Sub-county Deputy Commissioner, Hussein Alason Hussein, said a probe to establish the fire's exact cause and the damage's extent has been launched findings will be communicated later.

“The damage is huge and will be quantified in due course,” Hussein said.

So far, no injuries have been reported from the incident.
