Controversial Embakasi East Member of Parliament Paul Ongili Owino alias Babu Owino has kept his seat in the election.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) declared Owino the winner after garnering 57,410 votes against his closest competitor Francis Mureithi who managed to get 29,104 votes.

Babu, a diehard supporter of the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition contested for the seat on an ODM ticket while Mureithi vied on a UDA ticket.


His supporters broke into songs and jubilations once he was declared the winner.

This makes Owino a second-time MP of Embakasi East Constituency after being elected in 2017.

However, Mureithi challenged Owino’s win in court on grounds that the process was flawed.
