The Inspector General of the National Police Service Hilary Mutyambai on Monday held an election security preparedness briefing with senior police commanders at the National Police College Embakasi "A" Campus


The police commanders came from all regions, formations, counties and formed units across the country.

This comes after a series of election security preparedness training conducted across the country.


the Deputy Inspector General Kenya Police Service Edward Mbugua, the Deputy Inspector General Administration Police Service Noor Gabow, and other senior officers from respective headquarters attended were also in attendance.

The consultative meeting on the National Police Service’s preparedness in the provision of election security was intended to support IEBC and other stakeholders to deliver a free, fair and credible General Election.


Mutyambai identified the protection of the vulnerable, including women, children and the disabled during the electioneering period and after the polls, as a duty all commanders and their officers must uphold.

The IG encouraged commanders to remind their officers to conduct themselves professionally, as they have shown throughout the campaigns.


He also charged them to operate within the law respecting the rights of every Kenyan as he received feedback from the countrywide election security preparedness training.
