UDA party presidential running mate Rigathi Gachagua on Monday visited the Catholic University of East Africa (CUEA venue for the Presidential Debates ahead of the running mates’ debate slated for Tuesday.

This comes despite UDA presidential candidate, Deputy President William Ruto and his running mate Gachagua blowing hot and cold on their attendance of the presidential and running mates' debates being held by media houses at.

Gachagua went to CUEA for a briefing on the ground rules for the deputy running mates’ debate.

He will face other deputy presidential candidates including Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition’s Martha Karua, Roots Party’s Justina Wamae and Agano Party’s Ruth Mutua.

NTV’s James Smart, KTN’s Sophia Wanuna, TV27’s Linda Alela, KBC’s John Jackob Kioria and Citizen TV’s Trevor Ombija will host the debate which will be conducted in two tiers.

Ombija will moderate the panel discussions for both debates.

The first tier is for those candidates whose ratings are below 5 per cent and the second tier is for those candidates with ratings above 5 per cent where Gachagua features and will face it off with Karua

This comes after Ruto and Gachagua had shows indications that they would skip the separate debates for presidential candidates and their running mates alleging media bias against the UDA ticket.
