The Roots Part presidential candidate George Wajackoyah showered the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition presidential candidate Raila Odinga and his running mate Martha Karua with doting praises for their contribution to the country.

During the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) National Election Conference held at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre, Wajackoyah said it was because of the role Raila played that most presidential candidates are even in the contest, yet a section of them insult him.

Wajackoyah condemned the act and said no to insulting Raila.

“I’m standing here on this platform because of the role Raila Odinga has played. I’m not trying to say that I’m supporting him, but the good part of Raila is that it makes some of us stand here. And yet you get some presidential candidates abusing Raila. On that one, I say no,” Wajackoyah said.

In the same breath, the controversial politician also acknowledged the role Karua played alongside Supreme Court Judge Justice Njoki Ndung’u in the judicial reforms during what he termed ‘dark days’, referring to the KANU old regime.

“I’ve known you fighting with Martha Karua. You’re a woman of honour. I respect you, I respect Martha Karua, women who stood firm in those dark days,” Wajackoyah said.

This is not the first instance Wajackoyah is openly expressing his respect for the former Prime Minister.

While on his campaign tour in the Nyanza region, Wajackoyah hinted he may work with Raila in the future.

He also cautioned the Kenya Kwanza Alliance presidential candidate William Ruto against insulting Raila and his ODM party.

“This is the home of Baba and it must be respected. There is this young man from Sugoi who is usually abusing Baba, when he comes here shout at him and tell him to leave Baba alone,” Wajackoyah said.
