The Kenya Kwanza Alliance presidential candidate Rigathi Gachagua ruffled feathers of a section of youth with his utterances on youth from the Kalenjin community.

In a video which has since gone viral, Gachagua was speaking during a rally in Njoro, Nakuru last Friday when he asked the Kalenjin youth whose work is to practise cattle rustling to desist from the venture.

“Our youth here from the Kalenjin community whose work is cattle rustling, we are asking you to leave other people’s cattle alone and look after your own,” Gachagua said.

“Our youth here from the Kalenjin community, you need to stop this idea of stealing cattle from other communities. Let us respect one another and everyone should enjoy their own wealth.”

Gachagua’s remarks elicited mixed reactions from members of the public with a section accusing him of profiling the Kalenjin community.

The other section defended Gachagua saying he was only offering sound advise.
