Popular singer Kevin Kioko alias Bahati’s woes as far as his bid for the Mathare parliamentary seat is concerned are far from over.
This comes with the fresh development in the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition that placed Anthony Aluoch as the best candidate to fly the coalition’s flag in the Mathare parliamentary contest.
ODM Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna said on Monday during a joint ODM-Jubilee delegates meeting that the coalition prefers Aluoch to run for the Mathare parliamentary seat.
Bahati on the other hand is expected to step down from the race in favour of Aluoch and will later be considered for another alternative position in the coalition’s administration if it wins the August general election.

Sifuna said the zoning process was perfectly done and both parties will present 8 candidates each in Nairobi County.
"Our colleagues from Jubilee will be presenting their candidates from eight constituencies and those from ODM will present some from eight constituencies," Sifuna said.
"Zoning was done perfectly even here in Mathare we have agreed that its an ODM zone. We only have one candidate in Mathare and that is Anthony Oluoch, this young man called Bahati is my younger brother and we will talk. I will make sure that we find him another position within the Azimio government."
Youth And Gender Affairs CAS Rachel Shebesh also appealed to Bahati to shelve his political ambition at the moment.
Shebesh told Bahati that even the Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi shelved his political ambition to become Nairobi’s governor in favour of Polycarp Igathe who currently is the preferred candidate.
"We have talked with Bahati several times, asking him to work with us in the larger government. Bahati you are not even at the level of Tim Wanyonyi who dropped his bid to be Nairobi governor," Shebesh said.
These outcomes follow the coalition’s Friday meeting convened by Suna East MP Junet Mohamed set up a committee to resolve the issue of preferred candidates in areas where multiple candidates form could cost Azimio coalition wins.
