Kenya Kwanza Alliance presidential candidate William Ruto has linked the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition presidential candidate Raila Odinga to the current rising cost of living.

Ruto alleged while addressing a political rally at Gotani in Kilifi County on Sunday alleged that as President Uhuru Kenyatta’s advisor, Raila must be blamed for the spike in the rise of basic commodities such as maize flour and cooking oil.

The DP pointed to the contrast in the price of a packet of maize flour in 2018 and the current price.

“In 2018, the 2kg packet of maize flour cost Sh75. It is now selling at Sh250 and we are told that after I was elbowed out, it is the Azimio guy,” Ruto said.

Ruto claimed the cost of living going up is because of the advice Raila gave Uhuru and alleged if Raila becomes president, the cost of living will increase further.

“It is his advice that has made the price of flour to rise. Is this a person you can hire even to herd your goats? What if he gets the top job, will the price of flour get to Sh500?” Ruto posed.

However, Ruto conspicuously ignored to mention the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict, which is known to have a myriad of economic implications across the world.

Ruto told the people of Kilifi that his top priority if Kenya Kwanza Alliance becomes president would be to lower the cost of living.
