Tujibebe Wakenya Party leader William Kabogo has come out to claim that the agreement his party entered with the Kenya Kwanza Alliance was not binding, as it was not put down in writing.

Kabogo’s proclamation comes after an earlier announcement that his party would no longer attend any Kenya Kwanza Alliance political rallies allegedly because Deputy President William Ruto’s UDA party tends to overshadow his party during political events.

He said that while he was speaking during an interview with a local TV station on Wednesday.

The former Kiambu governor said he only joined the Kenya Kwanza Alliance after a promise by Ruto that counties would be allocated additional development funds by the national government on the basis of their population if he became president.

"I only joined Kenya Kwanza because DP Ruto agreed with me on my proposal that additional revenue allocation to counties should be based on population and that it would be put into writing. The agreement was a general one awaiting specifics to be put into the agreement which unfortunately until now has not happened," Kabogo said.

Kabogo now claims that the Tujibebe Wakenya party and the Kenya Kwanza Alliance only signed a general agreement on the arrangement but had a verbal agreement that more details would be added to the agreement.

However, the additional details of the deal were never made.

Kabogo also revealed his close associates cautioned him against working with the Kenya Kwanza team therefore he is not surprised the way things have turned out since he had already made up his mind.

He also revealed he figured out that Kenya Kwanza might go back on their initial arrangement when he attended the Kenya Kwanza express train to Kiambu where a section of UDA leaders publicly denounced the Kenya Kwanza Alliance.

"When we were having the express train going to Kiambu, you heard them say on live TV that there is nothing called Kenya Kwanza. It was a marriage of convenience with a lot of honesty and bits of dishonesty," Kabogo said.

Kabogo accused Kenya Kwanza’s presidential running mate Rigathi Gachagua of leading the team that disregard his Tujibebe party.

"DP Ruto's deputy designate is the one that leads this team. MPs come and say all these things while the deputy designate is on the same vehicle and he does not say anything."

The Kiambu gubernatorial aspirant acknowledged politics was a game of deceit and he had already come to terms with the betrayal, saying there were no permanent associations in politics.

Kabogo said he has severed all links with the Kenya Kwanza Alliance in order to focus on his gubernatorial bid. He urged Kenyans to vote for leaders who will better their lives.
