Roots Party presidential candidate George Wajackoyah has advocated for the planting of Marijuana to replace the wilting plants which were planted in the Nairobi Expressway columns.

Wajackoyah said that on Friday while addressing the media when he said there are many places in the country the plant can thrive.

He gave an example of the flowerbeds that were nearby for beautification as spaces that could be used to plant bhang, which would be more beneficial than the flowers.

Wajackoyah said his administration will legalize marijuana for medicinal and industrial use.

“There are flowers planted where you are standing, for beautification purposes. That is a place which can yield regulated bhang. Even the things we have on the Nairobi expressway, flowers that have died. Why do we need all that, yet people are dying? All that will be bhang,” he said.

Wajackoya expressed those sentiments just a day after the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) cleared him to contest for presidency in the August general election.

IEBC chairperson declared that Wajackoyah had attained the minimum requirements before being cleared.

The professor has been advocating for the legalisation of the plant, claiming its benefits outweigh its disadvantages.

The legalisation of marijuana forms part of Wajackoyah’s manifesto and he believes it would be used to boost the economy and even settle the country's debts.
