Soldiers from the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) special unit on Sunday morning raided and destroyed a camp belonging to al Shabaab militants inside Boni forest in Lamu County.
During the early morning raid, the KDF special forces retrieved communication gadgets, firearms and grenades that the Shabaab militants planned to use in their attacks in Lamu which borders Somalia.
KDF soldiers also apprehended one terror suspect during the raid near Bothia and he is being questioned on the activities of the terror group in the country.
This comes only four days after al Shabaab militants kidnapped and beheaded a chief in Wajir County, which jolted Kenyan security agencies to launch a search and rescue mission.
