Police in Elburgon have arrested a man for attacking the owner of a piece of land he was cultivating.
According to the victim in the incident identified as Joseph Kebenei 60, he had driven to his farm at a place called Mawe Mbili in Mau.
Upon reaching the place, he was surprised to find another 61-year-old man named Charles Cherongony tilling his land.
Kebenei asked Cherongony why he was cultivating his parcel of land without permission, but instead of giving an explanation, Cherongony descended on Kebenei with a hoe (jembe) while screaming his lungs out.
Kebenei’s screams attracted other villagers who abandoned whatever they were doing at the moment to respond to the alarm.

Instead of inquiring what the problem was, the villagers joined Kebebei in attacking Cherongony.
The villagers also heaped dry maize stalks on Kebenei’s Toyota Probox and set it ablaze.
In that confusion, a well-wisher saw an opportunity and grabbed Kebenei from the crowd before rushing him to Elburgon Police Station where he filed his report.
After reporting the matter, Kebenei was rushed to the hospital where he is currently receiving treatment.
Police officers from Molo and Elburgon were dispatched to the scene of the incident only to find Kebenei’s car already burnt down to a metallic shell.
They immediately arrested Cherongony and placed him in custody. He awaits his arraignment in court, where he will answer for his crimes.
