Kenya Kwanza Alliance presidential flag-bearer William Ruto claims the parcel of land he owns in Taita Taveta County was a gift that was given to him by the former Member of Parliament for the area Basil Criticos.

Ruto was speaking during a Kenya Kwanza economic forum held a Lumo Wildlife Sanctuary when he also said he was part of the community in Mata.

He said Criticos gifted him a portion of his land after he helped him out to settle a loan he had borrowed from the Agricultural Finance Corporation some years back.

“You know I am also a local here from Mata. Your former legislator, Basil Criticos, told me to for him a loan he had at AFC and then he gave me a portion of his land. I became a local here,” Ruto said.

He urged the area residents to support his presidential bid since he was one of them and in return, they would form the next government together if he wins the August election.

“I want to ask you, people of this county, as one of you in this county, we must organise ourselves so that by the time that government is formed we will form it together with you,” the DP said.
