Transport CS James Macharia has said Moja Expressway, which is a subsidiary of China Road and Bridge Corporation, has registered 11,000 vehicles.

Macharia said that on Saturday during the opening of the Nairobi Expressway for public use.

The CS also revealed about 7,000 motorists have registered to use the Electronic Toll Collection while others preferred the Manual Toll Collection.

"Moja Expressway has been registering over 800 vehicles a day since publicizing the registration process recently," Macharia said.

The Nairobi Expressway was constructed to decongest Mombasa Road and reduce the travel time along its length from Westlands to Mlolongo.

Moja Expressway, which is responsible for designing, financing and constructing the Nairobi Expressway is expected to manage the road for 27 years to recover the money used to construct the road via toll fees.

Furthermore, Moja Express is also expected to maintain the Nairobi Expressway during the period the highway will be in concession.
