The governor for Makueni County Kivutha Kibwana has accused Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka of stirring the hornet’s nest in the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition when the party is looking for Raila Odinga’s running mate.
Kibwana made those remarks on Monday when he said Kalonzo and his Wiper party have never really been in Azimio nor had they campaigned for Raila’s presidential bid to become president in the Kamba region.
“It is clear Wiper was never in Azimio. Evidently, it has no intention of joining Azimio. Up to now the party has never campaigned for Raila in Ukambani. Only the three Ukambani governors did so and raised Raila’s popularity in the region to about 65 per cent,” Kibwana said.
His statement comes shortly after Kalonzo and his team toured Makueni County where they continued mounting pressure on Raila to pick Kalonzo as his running mate ahead of the August election.
Kibwana advised the top Azimio leadership to haste and salvage Azimio when there is still time.
