Nominated Member of Parliament, David Sankok has lost his 15-year-old son who took his own life with his father’s gun.

The incident took place at the legislator’s home in Ewaso Nyiro, Narok County on Monday afternoon.

Narok South, Sub-county Deputy County Commissioner Felix Kisalu confirmed the incident and said detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) are investigating the matter.

According to sources privy to the incident, the young man who would have joined Form 3 at Kericho High School disagreed with his father over his performance in school.

Prior to the disagreement, the young Sankok disappeared from home after his father who was out of the country sent money for his shopping and pocket money only to return on Sunday.

The legislator also returned to the country on Sunday and summoned the boy for a father-son talk where the boy said he was no longer interested in school.

Memusi is later reported to have reached a consensus with his father who was to accompany him back to school.

Sankok left his house for a meeting at his hotel and at around 3 pm, the young man is reported to have is said to have accessed his father’s pistol from his father’s bathroom safe and shot himself.

The DCI detectives recovered the pistol the legislator’s son used for the ballistic examination.

The body of the deceased was moved to the Narok County Referral Hospital and a probe into his mysterious death is underway.
