Westlands Member of Parliament Tim Wanyonyi has asserted that he is firmly in Raila Odinga's Orange Democratic Movement party and the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition.

Wanyonyi clarified his political position to kill claims by the UDA camp that he was in talks with Nairobi gubernatorial candidate Johnson Sakaja for a deal ahead of the August poll.

Tim shared a video on his social media handles for the first time after Azimio unveiled Polycarp Igathe as its aspirant for the Nairobi governor seat, clearing the air as he confirmed that he will defend his Westlands Parliamentary seat in the coming election.

"I am ready to serve the people of Westlands for the third time and I remain firmly in my party ODM and Azimio la Umoja One Kenya. To all my supporters thank you for believing in me. The dream lives on," Wanyonyi said.

Social media became rife with speculation as to what Tim was ‘cooking’ after photos of him and Sakaja emerged online, raising the question if they were going to work together.

While speaking on Wednesday at the Huslter Centre during the event in which he received his nomination certificate, Sakaja acknowledged that Wanyonyi was his worthy contender.

“From the polls and statistics, he was my closest competitor, but when we sat together after he was replaced by someone else, I sympathised with him and agreed to work together,” Sakaja said.

He also claimed their teams are working in tandem to draft modalities of how they will work together ahead of the elections.

“Our teams are working together and more details will be out in due course. The vision for our great county and having what is in your heart done is important,” Sakaja said.

The senator claimed they had just met to consult as brothers after the decision to have Igathe as the Nairobi Azimio flag-bearer and was looking forward to working with Tim.

However, Wanyonyi downplayed the insinuations and said his leadership philosophy is always pegged to serving the people.

"Leadership has been about serving people. This has been my philosophy for the past 15 years and I'm confident it shall remain so. As I have said before, it has never been about me, it shall never be about me. It will always b about the people. ‘Si mimi ni sisi’," he said.
