On Thursday evening, five of the suspects captured on the CCTV footage were arrested separately in Kokowani, Kibokoni and Madaraka areas of Mombasa town.
The suspects who were arrested on Thursday were identified as Noordin Mohamed alias Mbavu Nene, Brian Otutu, Abdalla Mohamed alias Mbulo, Ahmed Ali and Vidic Nzilu.
The detectives have since established that the five suspects are members of a notorious criminal outfit known as the ‘Haipangwi’ gang.
‘Haipangwi’ has been responsible for the sudden spate of crime in Mombasa Old town.
Consequently, the police have now focused their attention on the town to annihilate the ‘Haipangwi’ gang.
The police have advised the members of the hang who are still at large that if they do not surrender, they will suffer a similar fate as the infamous ‘katombi’ gang members.
