The Wajir Women Representative Fatuma Gedi carried a suitcase to the Parliament on Thursday in which she had evidence linking the Kenya Kwanza presidential candidate William Ruto to land grabbing cases.

Fatuma told the National Assembly on Tuesday that she would avail evidence linking Ruto to the cases of land grabbing after causing a stir in the parliament accusing the deputy president of grabbing various parcels of public land across the country.

Kikuyu Member of Parliament Kimani Ichung’wa rose on a point of order to ask Gedi to either substantiate or withdraw her claims.

The speaker of the National Assembly, Justin Muturi, directed Gedi to substantiate her claims or withdraw her statements.

However, Gedi declined to withdraw her statements and went on record, saying the information was in the public domain and she had no apology to make.

She also asked the speaker to give her two days to present the evidence in parliament.

“It is in the public domain, including court orders, where one William Ruto grabbed land and I have no apology to make. Give me two days and I will bring the details,” she said.

The speaker gave Gedi the time she asked for and directed her to present her evidence on Thursday at 2:30 pm.

During the Thursday session, when Gedi wanted to table the evidence, Muturi did not allow her to, and the session turned into a heated argument.

Muturi tried to clarify that Gedi was only required to bring the documents and not read them out. However, Gedi insisted on tabling the evidence she carried to parliament.
