The Azimio la Umoja flag-bearer Raila Odinga has affirmed he will accept the outcome of the 2022 election if they were free, fair, credible and verifiable.
Raila said that on Wednesday at Chatham house where he delivered a speech.
He was fielding a question from the former African Minister and President of the Open Society Foundation Mark Malloch-Brown.
Brown asked Raila how he will ensure an honest election takes place which would allow the candidate with the most votes to win.
He was speaking against the backdrop of the 2007 bungled election where he believes Raila was denied his victory.

“Honorable Reilly probably won't surprise you that I'm going to ask about how you ensure there is an honest election. Having been with you as African minister in 2008 when we feel you were cheated at the right outcome. Uh having seen the...this conduct for the last election in terms of the vote count. How will you ensure when you're running against a well-funded, ruthless partner? How will you make sure that the honest election takes place which allows the candidate with the most votes to win?” Brown posed.
Raila said hopefully that will not recur and they are monitoring IEBC. He added that they have already pointed out areas and wish they be addressed to ensure a free and fair process.
He affirmed they will accept the outcome of the forthcoming election if they were free and fair.
“We are hoping that this will not happen this time round. But we are of course monitoring the electoral commission and we have actually pointed out each areas that we're concerned that we want them to address to ensure that the process is free and fair. And we have actually said that if this is free and fair or we lose ah fairly. We will accept the result either way,” Raila said.
