Businessman-cum-politician Jimi Wanjigi has ditched the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and joined Paul Muite’s Safina Party.
Wanjingi announced his exit from ODM on Wednesday afternoon during the Safina Party launch at the Serena Hotel in Nairobi.
Wanjigi affirmed through a tweet that his presidential ambition is still on course.
“Our path for Democracy will not be stopped. Our Dream for the Economic Liberation of Kenyans is more alive than ever & we will achieve that in the Safina Party. The Ark has left the dock & our destination is the Presidency of this great Republic #MashujaaWapya #FagiaWote,” Wanjigi said.

Safina Party leader Paul Muite received Wanjigi into the party, saying he made the right decision to join Safina Party.
" As far as the party is concerned, we think we know we have made the right decision in welcoming to membership," Muite said.
Wanjigi also confirmed that he will be tendering his nomination papers for the presidency on March 21st during the party’s National Delegates Convention.
“We have, I understand an NDC on the 21st of this month. So I will be putting my nomination for presidency of this party,” Wanjigi said.
During the event, Wanjigi was handed the certificate of Safina Party life membership.
