Wanjingi announced his exit from ODM on Wednesday afternoon during the Safina Party launch at the Serena Hotel in Nairobi.

Wanjigi affirmed through a tweet that his presidential ambition is still on course.

Our path for Democracy will not be stopped. Our Dream for the Economic Liberation of Kenyans is more alive than ever & we will achieve that in the Safina Party. The Ark has left the dock & our destination is the Presidency of this great Republic #MashujaaWapya #FagiaWote,” Wanjigi said.

Safina Party leader Paul Muite received Wanjigi into the party, saying he made the right decision to join Safina Party.

" As far as the party is concerned, we think we know we have made the right decision in welcoming to membership," Muite said.
